When a classic winter nor'easter visits New England, it is a signal to gather together in the warmth of home and enjoy the storm. That's just what we've done over the past couple of days, moving naturally between snow angels, snowshoeing and snow forts to hot lemon tea (honey dissolved in hot water and seeped with slices of lemons) and homemade playdough; finding new ways to play with old toys by the fire, doing a lot of reading, and tacking on a viewing of the award-winning documentary, March of the Penguins, connecting nicely with a story we read recently about emperor penguins.
How are you living and learning together on snowy winter days?

We are skiing, snow shoeing, building forts, moving snow, creating costumes and learning to use the sewing machine (including my 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter), reading books and magazines, playing games, and enjoying hours of child-developed pretend play around the house! Among many more activities. So much beautiful snow right now!
ReplyDeletei love the shape magnets! where did you find them?
ReplyDeleteThey're called Magnatiles and they are one of those everlasting toys that the kids don't seem to tire of and that are good for all ages and stages. We bought them at our local toy store but I think you can find them on Amazon as well.
